Traditions can hurt instead of help

To the Editor:

I’m not a Catholic, but I cannot help but notice the immorality that the body of priests have in recent years! All denominations have some morality problems at one time or another, but not the numbers the priests have had! (All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. — Romans 3:23) I’m not a highly educated man, but common sense would tell me the Catholics might go back several centuries and do like they used to to; let priests marry and have families. God said it is not good that the man should be alone (Genesis 2:18). Apostle Paul said, “It would be better to marry than to burn with lust or passion” (I Corinthians 7:9).

I realize this is just my opinion, but it is based on my understanding of the truth. Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ; Jesus said, “You must be born again, born of water and of the Spirit” (John 3:5). The gift of the Holy Spirit is the only power that will help you overcome self and receive you into the Kingdom of God! Traditions are funny little things that can help as well as destroy if used for the wrong purpose. They are good for procedures and a good purpose. However, they turn out bad if used for law and force for greater power and control — which sometimes takes years to accomplish!

The Pharisees and Sadducees are prime examples of this. They would not and some still will not accept Jesus as the Son of God and the expected Messiah that was to come. Jesus’ power of miracles did not overcome their traditions because of their set ways and hardness of their hearts. God started the church through Jesus, His Son; man started denominations with their traditions. Apostle Paul also said, “The believing parent sanctified their children. Because of this they are holy. The unbelieving parents’ children would be unclean” (I Corinthians 7:14). The constitution was set up by God’s moral law.

Satan or the devil is in power of the kingdom of this world. I’ve seen what his spirit has done in this country with all the laws that have been passed since I was married that are anti-God and unmoral. I do not expect this country of the world to get better. As morality becomes worse, from God’s perspective, as time goes on will bring on the end of this age faster! But the true believes of faith will live in peace, even some giving their life. The earth God destroyed first by water, but in the last day He will destroy it by fire.

Be born again and walk with a renewed mind and judge righteous judgement from God’s Word (John 7:24). Right is right no matter how many people say it’s wrong; and wrong is wrong no matter how many people say it’s right. In the end, God will judge righteously.
