GULF SHORES, ALA — During its annual spring break trip the Northmont girls softball team won two out of five games in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
HUBER HEIGHTS — The Butler varsity softball team pounded out 21 hits Wednesday to score a 20-5 run rule victory in five innings over Wayne.
XENIA — After dominating most its game Thursday at home vs. Wayne the Xenia varsity baseball team suffered a total meltdown in the top of the 7th inning that allowed the Warriors to take a three run lead.
CLAYTON — Trent Maas, a senior member of Northmont’s boys varsity tennis team, was recently selected as one of the Northmont Rotary’s Athletes of the Month for the month of March.
HUBER HEIGHTS — This year’s Wayne softball team might not have as much depth talent wise, but the players have much better chemistry. Coach Joe Viers is happy to have a group of players that get along and work together instead of tons of talent among players that don’t care for each other.
CLAYTON — Just like the varsity baseball team, the Northmont varsity softball team is looking to bolster its program with several new faces in this year’s lineup.
COLUMBUS — Wayne heavyweight Jacob Padilla became state champion and remained undefeated at 42-0 by defeating Jack Roesch of Avon 3-2 in the championship match at the state wrestling tournament Saturday night.
COLUMBUS — As of late Friday afternoon Northmont has seen two of its three state qualifiers eliminated from the state wrestling tournament.
GENEVA — The Wayne men’s indoor track team won its second straight Division 1 state indoor track title on March 2 at the 15th OATCCC State indoor Championships, held at the Spire Institute Academy, in Geneva, Ohio.
CENTERVILLE — The Fairmont Firebirds came out with a sense urgency and rode an emotional student section to race out to a huge lead and held on to advance in the tournament with a 51-43 win over the Wayne Warriors Monday night.
