VANDALIA — Xenia had the unfortunate circumstance of facing Wayne in the first round of the girls Division I sectional Saturday at Butler High School.
CENTERVILLE — Centerville jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first quarter and never looked back in route to a 69-45 win over visiting Wayne, winning its 12th straight and claiming a share of the GWOC National East title with Springfield.
MIAMISBURG — After a notorious slow start Friday night that saw both teams put up errant shots and commit turnovers Miamisburg eventually went on a 9-0 run to take an 11-4 lead over Northmont.
CLAYTON — Five Northmont football players will continue their playing careers in college after signing letters of intent on national signing day Wednesday.
SPRINGBORO — When Northmont hosted Springboro on Dec. 5 junior guard Kaitlyn McCrary scored 11 points in the first quarter and 20 overall. Makayla Cooper scored 13 while Camryn Nadir and Shalaya Heath had 11 apiece to help lead the Lady Bolts to a 63-60 victory.
CLAYTON — Northmont buried four 3-pointers during the first quarter Tuesday night to take a 22-12 lead against Lebanon and went up 27-12 early in the second quarter before the Warriors started to regroup.
HUBER HEIGHTS — Both Wayne bowling teams suffered losses to Centerville on Monday. The girls score was 2,418 to 2,215 while the Wayne boys fell 2,667 to 2,211.
CLAYTON — MaKayla Cooper and Ifeanyichukwu Nwanoro were honored Tuesday as the Northmont Rotary Club’s Athletes of the Month for January.
HUBER HEIGHTS — To say that the Lady Warriors are not the same team that lost 54-53 to Beavercreek on Dec. 5 would be an understatement.
