Wayne falls to Middies in softball sectional

HUBER HEIGHTS — Middletown scored two runs in the top of the 5th and four in the top of the 7th inning Wednesday to secure a 6-1 victory over Wayne in the Division I softball sectional tournament.

41 Hope 5K honors LaForce

VANDALIA — In 2009, one of Vandalia-Butler’s finest student athletes, Blake LaForce, lost his battle due to complications ofLeukemia. Blake’s legacy of optimism and perseverance is honored through the Blake LaForce #41 Memorial Fund, which provides money for two annual scholarships for one male and female student athletes at Butler High School.

COLUMBUS — Wayne heavyweight Jacob Padilla became state champion and remained undefeated at 42-0 by defeating Jack Roesch of Avon 3-2 in the championship match at the state wrestling tournament Saturday night.

Aviators a no-show versus Tipp

VANDALIA — The Butler girls basketball team came into the game against Tipp on Wednesday with significant hurdles to overcome. Without their leading scorer and rebounder, Tyree Fletcher, who is recovering from an ankle injury, the Aviators would need to search for offense against one of the best statistical defenses in the league.
