CEDARVILLE — Lucas Houk of Wayne placed 10th overall at the OHSAA Southwest District meet Saturday morning at Cedarville University.
Only the top nine teams and top 36 individual finishers qualified for the Troy Regional. Wayne finished 14th in the 26 team field.
Houk, a senior, finished in 16:19.33. Conant Smith of Middletown took 1st place in 15:15.24 followed by Ben Burkett of Centerville (15:33.90), Sam Duncan of Lebanon (15:43.36), Simon Heys of Wilimington (16:04.29), Riley Bucholz of Beavercreek (16:07.65), Parker Hines of Miamisburg ( 16:09.06), Andrew Sarmir of Fairmont (16:11.32), Corey Reese of Miamisburg (16:15.53) and Grant Arnold of Carroll (16:15.53) followed by Houk in 10th.
Sophomore Rohan Storaci finished 62nd in 17:35.06 as the next fastest Wayne runner. Senior Harley Wells finished 93rd in 18:10.58 and junior Alex Palcic finished 94th in 18:14.17. Senior Vincent Statzer finished 111th in 18:39.60. Senior William Stephens finished 114th in 18:43.63. Freshman Michael Cole came in 138th in 19:29.68.
The Wayne girls team only had four runners finish, which was not enough to accumulate any teams points.
Senior Madelynn Cochren finished as the top Lady Warrior in 79th place with a time of 23:10.53. Senior Abigail Kerestes finished 109th in 25:47.59. Junior Bailey Koss finished 110th in 25:55.00. Sophomore Rachel Wise finished 123rd in 28:29.93.
The Region 4 cross country Division I boys race will begin at 12:30 p.m. at Troy along the river levee.
